Roman Military Buckle. Circa 1st century AD. Copper-alloy, 28.54g. 50 mm. A large and heavy cast bronze D-shaped buckle with tinned surfaces. Decorated with four copper-alloy studs (three remain). Ref: Similar examples are published by Bishop and Coulston (1993: fig. 59 nos. 15, 19) as well as from excavation at Colchester (Crummy, 1983: no. 4215; Hawkes and Hull, 1947: pl. CII nos. 18-23) .
